PLSJ offers educational children's programs for children from the time they are born.
Babygarten- Babygarten is a three-week class for parent/caregiver and children
ages birth to 24 months. The classes involve free play, songs, rhymes, and books that
will help babies with language development and early literacy skills. Classes will also provide
an environment where parents can experience camaraderie and gain support from other parents and
caregivers while learning about the exciting nature of infant development and how it contributes to
pre-literacy. Registration is required.
Tot Time- This interactive program is for parent/caregiver and children ages two
and three. Tot Time offers great books, songs, finger plays, rhymes, play and tips on promoting
early literacy. Registration is required.
Play and Learn- This hour-long play session is for parent/caregiver and children ages
birth through three. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents of young children and
encourage your child to love the library from a young age. No registration is required.
Play and Learn PLUS- This program is Play and Learn plus an art activity.
Professionals from local family resource agencies will also be on hand to answer questions or talk to
parents about any concerns they may have with various topics such as child development, potty training,
hearing, and nutrition. This program is also for parent/caregiver and children ages birth through
three. No registration is required.
Play and Learn the Alphabet- Did you know that knowledge of alphabet letters ar entry into
kindergarten is a strong predictor of reading ability in the 10th grade? During this play session, all
or our toys, games, and art activities promote letter knowledge. Parent/caregiver and children ages two
to six can drop in anytime during this two-hour program for fun and socialization while mastering one
of the most important early literacy skills. No registration is required.
